Event Details
EU Funding for the Arts
Date: 30th May 2012
Time: 9.45am - 1.30pm
(one-to-one surgeries between 2.15pm - 4.00pm)
Location: The MAC
On 30th May, the Arts Council of Northern Ireland is hosting a 1-day event which will explore how EU programmes and funding can support international partnership opportunities for arts and cultural organisations located in Northern Ireland.
This is a pertinent time to consider how international working can be supported by the European Commission, particularly with the next generation of programmes being finalised by European Council and European Parliament. The new EU programmes include ‘Creative Europe’ (2014-2020) which would receive €1.8billion for the culture and media sectors and ‘Erasmus for All’ (2014-2020) which would have a total budget of €19 billion for education, training, youth and sport.
Whilst the new programmes will not commence until 2014, many opportunities still exist under the current (2007-2013) EU programmes for Culture, Lifelong Learning and Youth in Action.

One to One Surgeries
A number of one-to-one surgeries are available and will take place during the afternoon session. Booking is essential. A surgery is suitable for organisations who already have a project in mind, and who have already taken steps to identify at least one partner.
To make best use of your surgery time (10 minutes), it is essential that you submit a Project Summary which can be obtained from Debra Mulholland on booking.
n.b. Surgeries are not the place to obtain general information on EU funding or specific programmes. Please use the Q&A sessions taking place during the event to address general and frequently asked questions.
Only delegates registered to attend the event can book a one-to-one surgery.
To obtain the Project Summary form and book your surgery please contact Debra Mulholland direct at dmulholland@artscouncil-ni.org

Arts Council of Northern Ireland
The Arts Council of Northern Ireland is the lead development agency for the arts in Northern Ireland. It operates as an "arms length" body, funded by the Department of Culture, Arts and Leisure. The Arts Council is the main support for artists and arts organisations, offering a broad range of funding opportunities through our Exchequer and National Lottery funds.
The Arts Council has a unique strategic position within the NI arts sector. Its mission is to place the arts at the heart of our social, economic and creative life. The Council has worked to achieve this by promoting the value of the arts; strengthening the arts; increasing audiences; and improving its own performance. The Council works with the extensive network of funded arts organisations to bring about change through developing policy, strategy and development programmes that improve the business skills of artists, arts organisations, and creative businesses in the sector.
St Anne’s Square multi-storey car park
Car parking at the MAC could not be easier. Saint Anne’s Square multi-storey car park, which is located on Edward Street right beside the MAC, offers secure parking costing £1 per hour during the day. The car park pay station is on the ground floor and there is also a manned kiosk at the exit. Go to the MAC's website for a map: http://themaclive.com/visiting-the-mac/location/
We are now open to take bookings for the one-to-one sessions with EU programme representatives. This is a great opportunity to discuss your project idea and obtain feedback. The surgeries run between 2.15pm and 4.00pm - appointments last 10 minutes.
Please note: Culture Programme appointments will be prioritised for organisations intending to submit a project application by autumn 2012 deadlines. To obtain general information on the Culture Programme, please refer to the website or use the Q&A sessions during the event.
Please contact Debra Mulholland at dmulholland@artscouncil-ni.org or on 02890 385232 to book your appointment.
